Reno-Tahoe International Airport
Bioregional Project

One of the projects of which we're proudest is the entrance to Reno-Tahoe International Airport. As visitors approach the terminal, they drive by the Bioregional Project, a project comprising desert plants, wildflowers and trees.

The plants along this approach road provide a constantly changing view of the Great Basin environment.

In terms of irrigation, this project is a "mixed" project. Most of the plantings require no irrigation during the year. Some, particularly some of the trees and shrubs, have drip irrigation. The combination makes for a beautiful landscape project that requires very little water and very low maintenance. It fits our philosophy of creating special landscapes that have natural beauty, that fit into the overall environment, and that are "specie-rich." We planned the landscape project so that different flowers are in bloom throughout the temperate season.
