Some examples of work we have done...
This garden entrance to a Reno home features ornamental grasses and a
Bominite pathway. Flowering trees and shrubs provide accents. The ornamental
grasses add a sense of scale, so that the visitor walks not only between
them but "through" them. Flowers set off the beginning of the pathway.
A wooden bench invites the visitor to walk through the garden to the
front door of the house and to spend some time.
This
is the National Automobile Museum in downtown Reno, housing many of the
classic cars collected and restored by Bill Harrah. We're pleased to have
designed the plantings around the museum. Here at the entrance, you'll
find trees, shrubs, and ornamental grasses, mixed with boulders and bark.
Around the perimeter of the buildings you'll see more of a Great Basin
theme, with sage and other xeriscape plantings. Click on the image

We
like to add architecture and lighting to enhance the value of a garden
at night. At this home, we installed low intensity lights beside the ground
level deck. At night, the light not only provides a safer walking surface,
it also illuminates the flowers growing beside it in the rock garden.
We like to let our clients test various kinds of light for a while before
choosing the style to be installed. Click on the image to see a full-size

For
the back yard of this southwest Reno home, we designed a low deck, with
steps down to a path of decomposed granite. The path, lined by river rocks
(which are plentiful in Reno), leads one through a Great Basin theme xeriscape
garden. You can see wildflowers scattered among the desert shrubs, particularly
around the deck. Click on the image to see a full-size picture (299x186
